Perot Systems Selected By Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital for Major, Long Term IT Services

PLANO, Texas, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Perot Systems Corporation today announced that Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH) have selected the company to manage system wide information technology functions.

The agreements, awarded to Perot Systems in major competitive bidding, include applications, project management, infrastructure and data center operations for both organizations. Under the contract with SHC, Perot Systems will support its technology transformation program, while simultaneously enhancing and supporting SHC’s current legacy systems. LPCH awarded a similar contract to Perot Systems that includes infrastructure and data center support while retaining IT planning and application system support internally.

The combined total contract value of the agreements with SHC and LPCH totaled $380 million. Both relationships have a term of seven years and cover the broad spectrum of Perot Systems’ US-based healthcare services and solutions. As part of the initiation of services, Perot Systems will extend offers of employment to all in-scope SHC and LPCH IT personnel.

“We are honored to partner with these prestigious institutions. Our proposed relationship with SHC and LPCH allows each organization to apply its core strengths to the transformation of health care,” said Chuck Lyles, Perot Systems vice president and Healthcare group leader. “Perot Systems will continue its groundbreaking work in patient-centric information, supplying each organization with timely and accurate information supported by robust, redundant systems, while, at the same time, bringing the advantages of inventive, emerging technologies to their clinicians and leaders.”

For Stanford Hospitals and Clinics, Perot Systems will implement an enterprise architecture solution that will enable the health system to strategically use information technology to advance efforts in quality, care and service.

“Through economies of scale, automation and leverage of resources, SHC will redirect a significant portion of its core IT allocation toward new, advanced clinical systems that will allow continued high quality patient care,” said Carolyn Byerly, chief information officer of Stanford Hospital and Clinics. “By entrusting information technology to Perot Systems, we will use technology to drive innovation in the delivery of quality patient care, which is the core of Stanford Hospital and Clinics.”

Perot Systems will partner with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital to manage its clinical and operational technology infrastructure and implement an enterprise solution that will enable LPCH to continue focusing on clinical preeminence, performance improvements, operational flexibility, and information integration. The hospital will retain responsibility for planning and application systems.

“This collaboration with Perot Systems will allow the LPCH IT department to quickly leverage advances in information technology and focus on clinical transformation initiatives that keep us at the forefront of clinical excellence,” said Christopher Dawes, president and chief executive officer of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.
