HAZLETON, Pa., Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In partnership with the American Cancer Society, Cancer Treatment Center at Hazleton announces the opening of the ACS Cancer Resource Center for local patients and the community. The Resource Center is now open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
Located inside the Cancer Treatment Center at Hazleton at 1701 East Broad St., the Resource Center is operated by certified ACS staff and trained volunteers who are available to answer questions and provide guidance to patients and their loved ones on how to access supportive resources and programs offered by the ACS.
In addition to support services, the center offers a variety of educational materials for visitors, including a large literature rack with disease and treatment-specific information in English and Spanish. Members of the community who are interested in learning more about cancer prevention, detection and treatment are also welcome to visit the center.
A free public open house and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held from 5 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the center. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the center, meet physicians and staff and enjoy complimentary refreshments. To register for the event, call (570) 459-3460.
