Dr. Myers, a national expert in HIV prevention and testing, has extensive experience in public health, infectious diseases, and internal medicine, and is well-versed in evidence-based practice and sexual health. Myers comes to MetroPlus from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH), where, since 2013, she was Director of HIV Prevention in the Bureau of HIV. She led the citywide scale-up of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and directed the implementation of HIV prevention interventions at clinics and community-based organizations citywide through innovative program design, rigorous monitoring and evaluation, and data-driven quality management. Additionally, Dr. Myers oversaw the development, launch, evaluation, and dissemination of pioneering public health programs, including a public health detailing campaign for physicians and an online home HIV test giveaway for consumers. She was formerly Director of Special Projects for the Office of the Commissioner of Health, at NYC DOHMH, and Program Associate of International Health Programs at Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Dr. Myers earned her B.S. from Yale University, her M.D. from Cornell University’s Weill Medical College, and an M.P.H. from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She completed a Clinical Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Columbia University Medical Center and her internship and residency in Internal Medicine-Primary Care at Massachusetts General Hospital.
In addition, she serves as Assistant Professor in Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, at Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons where she provides HIV primary care. A sought-after speaker, Dr. Myers has published extensively on her areas of expertise.
