CENTER CITY, Minn., and SPRINGFIELD, Mo., /PRNewswire/ -- Missouri-based health care leader CoxHealth has joined the Hazelden Betty Ford Patient Care Network, a collaboration that will expand resources and options for individuals throughout the Ozarks who are suffering from substance misuse and addiction.

One of the many benefits of the collaboration relates to ease of access, something that is crucial when a patient is ready for treatment.

“When someone decides they need help for their addiction, it’s imperative that they’re able to access help within days or even hours,” said Tressa Moyle, director for CoxHealth’s Center for Addictions. “As a member of the Hazelden Betty Ford Patient Care Network, we’ll be connected to comprehensive resources and partners we can trust, which will help us ensure that our patients can access the appropriate level of care as quickly as possible, with their primary care physician remaining involved through the duration of their treatment path.”

A large nonprofit health system, CoxHealth is the first Missouri member of the growing national network of collaborators, who are working together to extend the continuum of care and improve outcomes for their patients.

“We are proud that our program met the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s rigorous standards,” says Moyle, whose Center for Addictions provides a wide variety of outpatient treatment services and is often able to arrange treatment around patients’ work schedules. “While studies have shown that many addictions are effectively treated with outpatient programs, some situations are better suited for inpatient care. In these cases, we are pleased to utilize the network to facilitate the care that patients need, and are also ready to care for them after they come back to our area.”

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is a national nonprofit that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment for adults and youth. It has 17 sites across the country as well as extensive education, prevention, research, advocacy and publishing resources.

“By working together with this nationally known organization and its network, we aim to help even more people in our region get the right care, in the right setting, at the right time, with the best possible outcomes,” Moyle said.

The Hazelden Betty Ford Patient Network—the first of its kind in the addiction treatment industry—was launched in the fall of 2017. Members are vetted to ensure they share the network’s commitment to effective, evidence-based practices; collaboration; and improving patient outcomes.

“As a center of excellence in our field, we are dedicated to sharing our expertise and at the same time learning from other high-quality providers such as CoxHealth,” said Bob Poznanovich, Hazelden Betty Ford’s vice president of business development. “By working together, with a unified focus on quality, coordinated care that treats the whole person, we can improve outcomes and better address the growing needs of our communities.”

“CoxHealth is an outstanding, trusted health care leader in Missouri, and its highly respected Center for Addiction has a long history of providing quality programs and services,” Poznanovich continued. “We are thrilled to welcome CoxHealth into our collaborative Patient Care Network.”
