DETROIT, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Ltd. , announced today that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted final approval for the Company’s Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Fluvoxamine Maleate 25mg, 50mg and 100mg strength tablets.
Caraco’s Fluvoxamine Maleate is the active ingredient found in Luvox(R) which was formerly marketed by Solvay Pharmaceuticals Inc. The Luvox brand is no longer available in the market. Caraco’s Fluvoxamine Maleate is therapeutically equivalent to the FDA reference listed drug (RLD) listed in the Orange Book. Fluvoxamine Maleate is currently marketed in the US as a selective serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. Fluvoxamine Maleate tablets are indicated for treatment of obsessions and compulsions in patients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
