SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Brainlab, a global leader in medical technology, today announced the installation of the 625th ExacTrac® X-Ray. ExacTrac X-Ray provides submillimetric precison and a unique approach for solving the complexities associated with intra-fractional patient motion by internally verifying the patient’s position with stereoscopic X-Ray at the time of treatment, even at non-coplanar couch positions. ExacTrac X-Ray monitoring is especially valuable for cranial stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and spinal stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) treatments.
“ExacTrac X-Ray monitoring defines the standard in intra-fractional motion management,” said Josh Yamada, MD, Radiation Oncologist, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. “We can set up our patients using cone-beam CT or ExacTrac X-Ray, depending upon the patient’s needs. However, during treatment delivery, the need to manage intra-fractional motion at a high frequency is well met by ExacTrac X-Ray monitoring. The system has helped us overcome the challenges and complexities of spine radiosurgery cases. Overall, ExacTrac X-Ray monitoring provides an improvement to our setup accuracy and safe, efficient treatment delivery.”
