Bolton Medical Expands Product Line With RELAY NBS Thoracic Stent-Graft

SUNRISE, FL--(MARKET WIRE)--Jun 18, 2008 -- Bolton Medical announces the expansion of their endovascular product line with the launch of the new RELAY NBS Thoracic Stent-Graft. The NBS, or Non Bare Stent, is a thoracic stent-graft with a proximal end configuration consisting of a sinusoidal nitinol stent covered with fabric. It gives surgeons another option, allowing them to achieve placement of the stent-graft in anatomies where a bare stent may not be optimal. RELAY NBS was launched in April 2008 at the CX Charing Cross Symposium in London and is currently available in Europe. It will be marketed in addition to the RELAY Stent-Graft, which was launched in Europe in 2005 and is currently well underway with clinical trials in the U.S.

Currently the RELAY NBS and RELAY Endovascular Stents are indicated for the treatment of main thoracic aortic pathologies such as aneurysms, dissections, penetrating ulcers, pseudoaneurysms and intramural haematoma, in adult patients. Since its launch in 2005 more than 1,700 RELAY Stent Grafts have been implanted worldwide.

Thoracic Stent Grafts are an option to traditional open surgery for patients requiring treatment for main thoracic pathologies. The endovascular stent-graft procedure generally results in a reduced hospital stay and a lesser recovery time for patients. This can provide a considerable advantage in care given that the majority of patients who meet the criteria are seniors.
