COLUMBIA, S.C., May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday, April 17th, employees of BDI Pharma recognized World Hemophilia Day by joining together in support of the millions of children and adults affected by bleeding disorders. Events were held at the company’s South Carolina, Texas and Kansas locations with remote employees joining in the efforts, wearing custom designed red t-shirts and raising money to support the WFH (World Federation of Hemophilia).
“As a rare disease company with a core competency in hemophilia, our involvement in this community, globally and domestically, has been both rewarding and enlightening,” stated Rich Gaton, co-founder and president of BDI Pharma, Inc. “We have come to understand the impact that can be made in the lives of those affected by bleeding disorders and their families. Hemophilia can be a debilitating disease but thanks to improvements in treatment, those people affected often can live very fulfilling lives.”
Serving the hemophilia community for more than twenty-two years, BDI Pharma has become an industry resource for healthcare providers to access not only the coagulation products needed for therapy, but for the high-touch services necessary to assist this very tightknit patient population. And while factor replacement therapy can be effective, living with hemophilia can further become complicated due to the very nature of dealing with specialty pharmaceuticals. “Cost, reimbursement, availability and patient support services are just a few of the many challenges faced by those living with or affected by bleeding disorders,” adds Edward Stiefel, co-founder and president of BDI Pharma, Inc. “With this realization, we have created a portfolio of services geared towards helping manufacturers, healthcare providers and, most importantly, patients navigate the many issues that arise throughout a lifetime of treatment.”
BDI Pharma’s donation to the WFH will be used to train healthcare professionals in the early diagnoses of bleeding disorders as well as to educate patients with hemophilia along with the families who support them. To learn more about the World Federation of Hemophilia, visit www.wfh.org.
