SARASOTA, Fla., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- A new visual software application, dubbed “Wiggy,” has been designed specifically with the needs of cancer and alopecia patients in mind. Visual Applications Inc., a software development company providing visual technology applications, announces the launch of its new website, http://www.inmyprivacy.com/ . This site allows online consumers to ‘try on’ wigs in the privacy of their own home. This free service provides them with a discreet and dignified way to try on and purchase wigs, a much appreciated solution to one of the many emotional and personal hardships of chemotherapy patients who have lost their hair and who may be physically limited during rehabilitation.
“I developed this website from personal motivation,” says Bobbie Ayers, owner of Visual Applications. “When my mother had ovarian cancer, I felt helpless -- there is not much you can do to control the physical aspects of this disease except follow the advice of the physicians. Then I realized that I could do something to help. That’s when I decided to utilize our visualization technology to make life a little easier for these patients.”
Over 1 million new cancer occurrences are reported yearly in the United States alone, and more than half of this figure is made up of women. InMyPrivacy.com hopes to reach and help the millions of women whose lives are affected by chemotherapy or other medical conditions that cause the loss of their hair.
How it works:
Wiggy is free and easy to use. From any computer that has online access, anyone can log on to http://www.inmyprivacy.com/ . Consumers can choose from a growing number of wigs and several different wig manufacturers, including Georgie and Judy Wigs. New wig manufacturers and styles are added daily.
Consumers upload a static photo of themselves by following step-by-step instructions listed on the website, or they can use the images provided by a computer video camera in real-time. They then click on any wig and it will appear on their picture, allowing them to see how various colors, styles, and brands would look on them.
Users who decide to purchase a wig can do so directly from the website. About Visual Applications:
