SILVER SPRING, Md., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- SoftMed Systems, Inc., today announced an agreement with VHA Inc., the national health care cooperative for not-for-profit healthcare organizations, that provides VHA members with savings on SoftMed’s entire suite of health care information management solutions. VHA will include SoftMed’s solutions in a product portfolio available to its national network of more than 2,200 community-owned health care organizations throughout 48 states.
“We are thrilled that VHA has chosen to include SoftMed solutions in its product portfolio,” said Don Segal, CEO of SoftMed Systems. “Our practical technologies integrate engineering excellence, product integrity and complete scalability for both small and large health care facilities. We expect that our solutions will help VHA member organizations increase productivity and reduce costs as they move toward the electronic health record.”
VHA chose SoftMed Systems to help meet members’ daily challenges, such as transcription, tracking chart deficiencies, care planning and quality management, and supporting the health care facilities as they grow their electronic health record (EHR) systems. SoftMed currently has relationships supporting 310 of VHA’s member organizations.
SoftMed’s product line includes solutions for secure access to patient information, HIPAA disclosure management, managing transcription costs, solving coder shortages and quality and resource management. SoftMed’s products have consistently been recognized by KLAS Enterprises, a research and consulting firm specializing in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare information technology (HIT) software vendors. In 2003, ChartScript was named “Best in KLAS” for the Dictation and Transcription category according to their year-end report.
“SoftMed Systems offers a broad range of integrated solutions that will benefit our member hospitals in a number of critical areas,” said Julie Ruiz, senior director of strategic supplier relationships for VHA. “We look forward to working with SoftMed to provide these facilities with the technologies that can help them reduce costs and improve quality of care.”
