LONG ISLAND, N.Y., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sbarro Health Research Organization (S.H.R.O) will host its 2nd Luncheon for Life at 12pm on Sunday, November 28th at the beautiful Westbury Manor, in Westbury, New York.
Because of S.H.R.O.'s continued success in breast cancer research and related women’s oncology research, a group of women in Long Island, NY decided to launch the “Global Women’s Health Initiative” as a new program to be sponsored by S.H.R.O.
The Luncheon directly supports this new program, which is geared to combat devastating diseases, including breast cancer. Its objective is to reach the disadvantaged, and those with little or no voice or economic power.
The scientists of S.H.R.O. have conducted research to develop new technologies for diagnosing lung, ovarian, endometrial, breast and brain tumors as well as lymphomas.
This research has already yielded new potential strategies using a gene therapy approach, which can hopefully be applied to tumors. Some of these technologies are currently undergoing review by the FDA for safe use on humans.
The work of these tremendous scientists has been published in various distinguished scientific journals, such as Cancer Research, Cell, Oncogene, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Science and Nature Medicine.
S.H.R.O. hopes to build its recognition for fighting against cancer and cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. Please join us on November 28th in support of S.H.R.O.'s efforts to make a dramatic difference.
