ANN ARBOR, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2006--SensiGen LLC, a development stage life sciences company commercializing renal and cancer products to serve the worldwide molecular diagnostics market announces the appointment of Shawn M. Marcell to the post of president and chief executive officer. Mr. Marcell has also been elected to the company’s board of managers.

Most recently, Marcell was senior vice president of the University City Science Center (“Science Center”) in Philadelphia where his responsibilities included investing in life sciences companies via SC Capital I, LP, overseeing the Port of Technology - a 45,000 sq. ft. life sciences and technology incubator housing 35 companies, managing and advising portfolio companies, and corporate marketing communications. Marcell was also acting CEO of Neuro Diagnostic Devices, a leading SC Capital portfolio company. He will continue to act as an advisor to the Science Center.
Marcell has been founding CEO of three life sciences and technology companies in the fields of drug delivery and medical devices, building them from startup through commercialization, including raising significant venture financing, building out worldwide organizations and achieving market leadership positions. Prior to that, he held senior marketing and business development positions with Abbott Diagnostics and Centocor Diagnostics where he was responsible for launching more than a dozen in-vitro diagnostics systems and products and completing dozens of licensing transactions.

Marcell is a graduate of the George Washington University with a BA in economics. He has also served as lecturer and adjunct faculty at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
