RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Quintiles Transnational Corp. today announced the appointment of Stephen DeCherney, M.D., MPH, as President, Clinical Development Services Americas.
Dr. DeCherney will lead Quintiles' clinical development strategy and operations in North and Latin America. He joins Quintiles from PRA International, where he served most recently as Executive Vice President of Strategic Programs.

"He's a creative thinker whose leadership and innovation will benefit our customers through the creation and implementation of high-quality clinical development programs."
A former research physician who is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology/diabetes, Dr. DeCherney's research background includes five years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), followed by 11 years in various key management roles in the Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Delaware. While there, he was the principal investigator for 125 clinical trials. During the same period, he also served as an associate professor at both the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. DeCherney is a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University, where he received a bachelor's degree in biology. He received his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, and completed his residency at the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He performed his endocrinology training at Vanderbilt University. He also earned an MPH, Healthcare Management, from Columbia University School of Public Health.
