Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Named Finalist For Nonprofit Innovation Award

EPHRATA, Pa., March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) is a finalist for the Central Penn Business Journal’s Nonprofit Innovation Awards, which honors local community service.

Twenty-seven finalists will be honored at a breakfast and ceremony on Tuesday, March 29 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Wyndham Harrisburg/Hershey. The top award recipients in each of the four categories will be presented the Nonprofit Innovation Award and a check for $1,500. Tickets are $25 per person.

The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) is a finalist in the Operations/Technology category for its innovation Pink Link(TM), a monthly email newsletter, which provides up-to-the-minute news about medical breakthroughs, treatment programs, fundraising opportunities and community events.

The Operations/Technology category highlights nonprofit organizations that have been innovative in using technology, policy/procedure changes or other means to streamline, enhance or better its operations to help improve the quality of services rendered. Finalists were selected because of the originality, effectiveness and the measurability of their innovation. Other categories include: Brand Identity/Unique Marketing Campaign, Collaboration and Programs.

Pink Link(TM) was created to communicate messages to PBCC constituents in an effective and timely manner and arrives monthly in email inboxes across the state. Currently, Pink Link(TM) has almost 3,100 subscribers and meets the growing demand for instant and convenient communication.

The PBCC, founded in 1993, is a non-profit organization and the only statewide grassroots organization that speaks to and for breast cancer survivors. This year, more than 12,000 Pennsylvania women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. More than 2,300 will lose their lives to the disease. The PBCC’s mission is to find a cure for breast cancer and to improve the quality of breast cancer education, research and outreach in the state.
