HUMBLE, Texas, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Northeast Medical Center Hospital today announced that physicians now have unprecedented access to essential information about their patients -- including lab and test results, medication profiles, billing information, and more -- at the patient bedside and beyond, as a result of the hospital’s investment in the PatientKeeper Platform(TM), a mobile healthcare solution from Boston-based PatientKeeper(R), Inc.
“We have been working closely with our doctors to provide easier access to our existing information systems, improve clinical workflows, and improve patient care and safety,” said Carla Maslakowski, vice-president and chief information officer at Northeast Hospital. “PatientKeeper’s mobile solutions integrate with our existing information systems and make it easy for our doctors to access up-to-date patient information with their mobile devices -- like PDAs and smartphones -- when and where they need information.”
The mobile healthcare initiative began with implementation of the PatientKeeper Clinical Results(TM) solution, which provides tools for organizing doctor-specific patient lists and analyzing all types of patient data such as laboratory results, medication lists, medical histories, allergies, and clinical documentation. Northeast’s Management Information System Department will deploy additional applications from PatientKeeper over the next year, including PatientKeeper Charge Capture(TM), PatientKeeper ePrescription(TM), and PatientKeeper Reference Library(TM).
PatientKeeper Charge Capture automates the billing process. Instead of jotting information on cards, doctors will use PatientKeeper to simply check off customizable diagnosis codes and services right on their handheld devices. Two layers of rules checking help ensure that clean, accurate bills are produced. PatientKeeper ePrescription (Powered by DrFirst(R)), will provide physicians with a complete electronic prescription tool at the point of care, managing the entire prescription process from start to finish. Physicians can enter prescription orders, check patients’ medication histories, and review formularies. PatientKeeper ePrescription creates, modifies, saves, prints, and faxes or electronically transfers prescriptions directly and securely to the pharmacy. In addition, the software can warn doctors of possible drug-allergy and drug-drug interactions. PatientKeeper Reference Library allows physicians to access clinical reference information in the context of a specific patient, saving time and helping physicians make more informed clinical decisions.
