NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- IPC - The Hospitalist Company today announced the appointment of Timothy Lary to the newly created position of vice president of physician staffing. In this role Lary will direct the physician recruitment and retention strategies for the nation’s premier hospitalist organization, which currently employs nearly 300 physicians in numerous markets throughout the country.
Lary brings to IPC over 15 years of recruitment experience, the last 11 focused exclusively in healthcare. Immediately prior to joining IPC, Lary was with US Oncology, a national cancer care company. There he helped grow the network from 240 physicians in 1997 to more than 900 by 2004. Before US Oncology, Lary worked as a consultant with The Rottman Group, a healthcare recruiting firm focused in the building and development of management teams, within both private and public hospitals and healthcare systems.
“IPC is experiencing significant growth, both in new markets we are opening and in increased demand for our services in cities where we already have a significant presence,” said IPC President Jeff Taylor. “Tim’s terrific experience will help us attract and retain the kind of quality-focused physicians we need to continue to provide exceptional care and service to patients and hospitals throughout the country.”
A graduate in business administration from Harding University in Arkansas, Lary is a nationally recognized authority on a wide range of healthcare staffing and business issues including compensation, contracts, staffing strategies and regulatory issues. “I am very excited to be joining an organization that is a true thought leader in the hospital care revolution,” he said.
Hospitalists are acute-care specialists who focus on a patient’s hospital care from time of admission to discharge. As the nation’s fastest-growing medical specialty, hospitalists have become the true drivers of inpatient medicine by coordinating all of the tests, treatments and services that take place within the hospital. Increasing evidence has shown that hospitalists increase quality of care and reduce healthcare costs while providing patients added comfort and security.
Founded in 1995, IPC manages more than $1 billion in healthcare expenditures annually through practice locations in California’s Bay Area, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Worth, Houston, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, St. Louis, San Antonio and Tucson. The company also has a consulting services division that helps hospitals and other healthcare organizations launch new hospitalist programs or enhance existing ones.
