Integrated Surgical Systems (ISS) And FUJIFILM Medical Systems, USA (Fuji) Sign An Agreement For Fuji To Purchase Additional Technology And Marketing Rights For Its Synapse System For The Picture Archiving And Communication System (PACS) Market

DAVIS, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Integrated Surgical Systems, Inc. (Pink Sheets: RDOC), a world leader in medical robotics and a leader in image-directed, semi-autonomous robotic products for surgical applications, announced today that it has signed an agreement with FUJIFILM Medical Systems, USA (Fuji) to purchase certain additional technology and marketing rights for the PACS market only to those already granted under the current product development agreement.

Although the details of the agreement were not disclosed, Dr. Ramesh Trivedi, President & CEO of ISS, stated, “We believe that this agreement will benefit ISS. This increased awareness on the part of orthopedic surgeons will certainly lead to increased and rapid sales of our ROBODOC System.”

“In November 2003, ISS and Fuji entered into an agreement to develop a 2D/3D (two/three dimensional) orthopedic surgical planning software system to be integrated into Fuji’s Synapse System. During the ensuing period, both parties decided to further solidify their relationship where upon Fuji would purchase the rights to use key underlying technologies and patents from ISS,” commented Dr. Ramesh Trivedi.
