ATLANTA, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Eric Scott Sills, a partner with Georgia Reproductive Specialists, has recently been named Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Experimental & Clinical Assisted Reproduction. The scientific journal, published by Biomed Central Ltd., encompasses all aspects of research into reproductive endocrinology, infertility, bioethics and the advanced reproductive technologies.

Along with fertility pioneer Dr. Gianpiero Palermo, Sills will oversee a panel of experts including colleagues from Yale, Harvard, University of Chicago and the RAND Corporation. Editorial input is also coordinated from researchers at University of Zurich, National University of Singapore and Sweden’s Karolinska Institute, the home organization of the Nobel Prize committee.

About Eric Scott Sills, MD:

Dr. Sills earned his medical degree from University of Tennessee-Memphis and holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University. In addition to serving as Director of Oocyte Donation at Georgia Reproductive Specialists, Dr. Sills is Division Director for Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Atlanta Medical Center and is Adjunct Professor of Biology at Georgia Perimeter College-Dunwoody.

Following OB/GYN residency training at NYU Downtown Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, Dr. Sills completed an IVF fellowship at Cornell University Medical Center/New York Hospital. The author of more than 50 published scientific manuscripts and abstracts, Dr. Sills was elected fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (London) in 1998. After his discovery of a previously unknown gene mutation in 2001, Dr. Sills was among a select group scholars from the United States admitted for membership in the Max-Planck-Society (Munich).

Dr. Sills is a Fellow of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the American College of Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (board certified to 2010). He is a recipient of the AMA’s Physician Recognition Award, and an award for meritorious patient care from The Cooper Institute for Advanced Studies in Medicine and The Humanities.
