FMCS Requests Nurses And Hospital Meet For Discussions

WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) announced today that representatives of St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and the Professional Division of Local 655, affiliated with the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, have agreed to meet Friday, January 7 under FMCS auspices to discuss issues that are separating the parties.

Nurses at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center went on strike against the hospital on December 15.

“I am very pleased that the parties are willing to come to the table to discuss their differences,” said FMCS Mediator Roger Hendrix, who will mediate the discussion. Hendrix said both sides have agreed to meet at the request of the FMCS and that he has been in frequent contact with the parties to seek a resumption of talks.
