“Eclipsys is very pleased to strengthen our relationship with Trinitas Hospital by deploying multiple Eclipsys software solutions throughout the organization,” said Eugene V. Fife, Eclipsys chairman, president and chief executive officer. “We share with Trinitas ‘A Vision of Health’ where a seamlessly connected enterprise of integrated solutions helps facilitate improved clinical and financial outcomes.”

In extending its relationship with Eclipsys, Trinitas is in the process of migrating from the heritage Eclipsys 7000(TM) system to Sunrise Clinical Manager, with activation scheduled for early 2006. Trinitas is also expanding its portfolio of Eclipsys solutions by selecting Eclipsys Diagnostic Imaging Solutions, including Sunrise RIS (radiology information system) and Sunrise PACS (picture archiving and communications system), which are also available as standalone products. Sunrise PACS links radiology and other specialized diagnostic imaging capabilities -- such as cardiology, mammography and endoscopy -- to the clinical workflow of the entire organization. Since March 2002, Trinitas has outsourced its information technology operations to Eclipsys and applications are remotely hosted at the Eclipsys Technology Solutions Center in Mountain Lakes, NJ.

By providing streamlined access to digital radiology images, Sunrise PACS will help Trinitas Hospital reduce delays in care caused by slow report turnaround and image re-takes. In addition, by using Eclipsys Diagnostic Imaging Solutions, clinicians at Trinitas will be able to view patient medical records and diagnostic images and reports in real time. When Sunrise PACS is used with Sunrise Clinical Manager, thumbnail images can be viewed with the exam report on a specialized imaging tab for improved workflow.

Sunrise RIS is a sophisticated radiology information system that enables healthcare providers to securely manage the flow of data in real time from any location with Internet access. Robust features include an appointment scheduler, embedded speech recognition and digital dictation, mammography tracking and reporting, film tracking, and specialized dynamic worklists for radiologists and staff.

Trinitas initially engaged Eclipsys to implement Sunrise PACS alone, but added Sunrise RIS to the agreement after Eclipsys acquired eSys Medical Systems, Inc., Montreal, Quebec, and Toronto, Ontario, and its RadioLogic product in November 2004. RadioLogic was renamed Sunrise RIS. With the acquisition of eSys Medical Systems, Eclipsys extended its clinical workflow solutions in radiology to provide additional productivity, costs and patient care improvements.

“The integration of Eclipsys Sunrise RIS and Sunrise PACS with our Radiology department allows us to image-enable our enterprise and therefore provide our physicians with the capability to access all of the information they may need -- the radiology report and the image -- to improve patient care,” said Judy Comitto, Trinity Hospital vice president of Information Technology and chief information officer. “The activation of Sunrise RIS and Sunrise PACS will also enable Trinitas to replace all of its existing film, thus improving access to images, streamlining workflow, and replacing paper-based processes for greater efficiency. Most importantly, our clinicians will have instant access to results and can make faster and better clinical decisions. All of this supports our mission for continually enhancing our patient safety and quality initiatives.”

The hospital has also committed to replace an existing financial system from another vendor with the Eclipsys Sunrise Access/Patient Financial Manager(TM) solution at a later, yet-undetermined date. Access/Patient Financial Manager is an enterprise-wide, comprehensive scheduling, registration/ADT, contract management, document management and patient accounting solution that provides a seamless workflow between administrative, clinical and financial processes, the patient and the payer. This proven solution streamlines revenue cycle workflow and extends it beyond the healthcare organization by integrating payers and patients in an automated environment.
