“We are also currently hiring full-time nurses to help us keep up with an increase in demand for product development,” said Christophe Sevrain, managing director of Delphi Medical Systems. “Our speed and agility are quickly paying off as a growing number of distributors and OEMs demand turnkey options from this relatively new Delphi business unit.

“If a company focuses on ‘build-to-print’ contract manufacturing, there is no need for clinical expertise, as the product development is done by the customer,” Sevrain said. “However, since we actually develop medical products, leveraging our huge wealth of technologies, we believe that it is absolutely critical to have broad and highly experienced clinical resources both in-house and through our business alliances, so that our decisions are the right ones for patients as well as care providers.”

Clinicians, engineers, and quality experts at Beaumont Hospitals will evaluate Delphi Medical’s concepts and newly developed devices. The Beaumont Usability Lab evaluates medical devices for safety, diagnostics and therapeutic efficacy, user-friendliness, and ergonomics.

“We are delighted to help Delphi Medical with product evaluation and testing because we have an opportunity to influence manufacturing decisions that may make a significant difference in patient safety and quality care,” said Steven Ebben, Vice President of Beaumont Services Company, LLC.

Currently, a carefully selected group of clinical experts at Beaumont is already evaluating infusion pumps, vital signs monitors, and respiratory devices, applying human factors evaluations and analytical testing techniques to improve device performance and safety.

“We expect to include Beaumont’s staff in the evaluation of other devices soon and are looking forward to a long-term relationship with this first-class team,” Sevrain said.

As part of its non-hospital product development initiatives, such as homecare, Delphi Medical plans to quickly strengthen its in-house clinical product evaluation as well by aggressively recruiting qualified, experienced visiting nurses to join the team.
