CompONE Services And Saliant Technology Announce Joint Venture For Electronic Medical Records Technology

OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- CompONE Services, Inc., a leading national provider of technology-based medical office management solutions, announced today a partnership with Saliant Technology, a leading provider of document management solutions and paperless technologies. The two companies will offer electronic records management and electronic medical records functionality to healthcare providers nationwide.

CompONE chief executive officer, J. Paul O’Haro said, “EMR technology is a welcomed paradigm shift in how healthcare will be administered in this country. This technology holds the promise of saving lives and healthcare dollars.”

Electronic medical records (EMR), recently touted by President Bush, is a rapidly emerging trend among healthcare providers that has the ability to staunch spiraling healthcare costs while simultaneously improving standards of care.

Saliant chief executive officer Dan Lundy said, “The combined expertise of CompONE and Saliant makes an EMR offering a natural fit for both companies.

“CompONE and Saliant will offer EMR technology that converts current, paper-based patient files to images, and ultimately electronic, files that will be stored and accessed via a secured Internet portal. The system will give doctors instant access to potentially lifesaving information such as patients’ medical histories, lab test results and lists of medications they have been prescribed.

“Additionally, the technology will reduce administrative costs and the chance for medical errors that occur when information is written down inaccurately or illegibly.”

CompONE’s Electronic Records Management (“ERM”) solution is a proprietary combination of CompONE’s practice management technology through Misys Healthcare Systems, a third party ERM software vendor, which enables CompONE to provide not only paperless management of all financial functions within medical offices, but also paperless management of all clinical functions within medical offices by seamlessly bridging the process through Saliant’s Laserfiche (TM)-based document management solutions.
