DUBLIN, Ohio, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardinal Health, Inc. , the leading provider of products and services supporting the health care industry, today introduced Pyxis(R) MedSystem medication management products and consulting services, a new solution to enhance communication between nurses and pharmacists and help reduce chances of medication-dispensing errors. The company made the announcement at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ 39th Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando, Fla.
“Our new medication management system includes innovative communication and workflow-improvement elements that address the health care industry’s concerns about patient safety, workplace efficiency and cost control,” said Dwight Winstead, president and chief operating officer of the Clinical Technologies and Services segment of Cardinal Health. “Our goal is to provide much more than state of the art products to our customers, we must provide relevant solutions to meet their needs.”
St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. is one of the first facilities to install the system. “Pyxis(R) MedSystem has helped St. John Medical Center streamline its operations, while strengthening the connectivity between nurses and pharmacists,” said Robert Cather, D.Ph., director of pharmacy at St. John Medical Center. “The pharmacy and nursing workflow improvements alone are vital because with today’s staffing shortages, anything we can do to provide our staff with more clinical time will benefit us and our patients.”
