HSAs are tax-favored savings accounts set up to help individuals pay for health care expenses that are not reimbursed by a health insurance plan or any other health reimbursement source. Any interest and investment earnings are not taxable, so the money in HSAs grows tax-free. Withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are also tax-free.
“BCBSF is pleased to provide plans that are compatible with HSAs to our BlueOptions group plan policyholders as a way to save for future medical expenses and retiree health expenses,” said Craig Thomas, vice-president, Product and Services Development, BCBSF. “We are enhancing our low-cost coverage options for the uninsured by offering this new health plan and adding to our portfolio of affordable choices.”
HSA compatible high deductible health plans are available now in areas of the state where BlueOptions plans are in effect. For more information about BCBSF’s HSA-compatible plans, go to http://www.bcbsfl.com/ .
