ATLANTA and ALBUQUERQUE, Aug. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The ASRT Education and Research Foundationand Elekta are excited to announce the recipients of the 2012 Elekta Radiation Therapy Scholarship.
Made possible by a contribution of $23,000 in funding and support from Elekta, four scholarships of $5,000 each recently were awarded to entry-level radiation therapy students. Elekta has demonstrated its commitment to radiation therapy by providing $140,000 in scholarships since 2006.

This year’s scholarship recipients are:
- Lee Culpof Buffalo, N.Y., enrolled in an associate degree program at Erie Community College City Campus.
- David Dosanjhof Livermore, Calif., enrolled in an associate degree program at City College of San Francisco.
- Njeri Kaittany-Gainesof Houston enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
- Valerie Nixof Las Vegas enrolled in an associate degree program at the College of Southern Nevada.
To be eligible, applicants must be entry-level students enrolled in an accredited radiation therapy program.
Scholarship recipients submitted applications and were selected based on evidence of commitment, leadership, achievement and financial need. The Foundation’s Scholarship Review Committee evaluated scholarship applications and provided recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Recipients were then approved by the Board of Trustees.
