NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Ardent Health Services has completed two transactions announced earlier. Ardent finalized the agreement with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation to partner in the ownership of Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge, La., and the sale of Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Ky., to Associated Healthcare Systems.
Ochsner Clinic Foundation Baton Rouge is a regional affiliate of Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. Founded in 1986, Ochsner Clinic Foundation Baton Rouge is a physician-directed, integrated health care system that provides outpatient medical care and diagnostic services in more than 35 specialty areas with over 85 physicians.
Ardent has solely owned the 201-bed Summit Hospital since July 2001 and will now share ownership with Ochsner in a 50/50 joint venture. The hospital’s name will become “Summit Medical Center, an affiliate of the Ochsner Clinic Foundation,” and the current administrative team will maintain management responsibilities with oversight by a newly formed local board of managers consisting of Ardent and Ochsner representatives. Ardent will continue to manage the hospital for the joint venture.
In a separate transaction, Ardent finalized the sale of Samaritan Hospital to Brentwood, Tenn., based Associated Healthcare Systems (Associated). Ardent had owned the hospital since January 2002 and announced in mid-December its intent to sell the facility to Associated.
Additional terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
