MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Edson W. Spencer, Jr. has been named to the Allina Hospitals & Clinics Board of Directors, the governing body for Minnesota’s largest health care system.

Spencer has a long history in the venture capital and investment business. He is currently managing partner of Affinity Ventures III, LP and founder and principal of Affinity Capital Management and managing partner of Affinity Ventures II, LLC. Previously, he was managing general partner, PSF Health Care Fund, LP and co-founder of Peterson-Spencer-Fansler Company. All of these businesses were formed to focus on investment and business planning for early- stage health care companies.
Spencer also held executive positions in sales and marketing at Dyco Petroleum, Minneapolis. He serves on numerous for-profit and non-profit company boards of directors and is a past president of the Minnesota Venture Capital Association. He has an MBA from Columbia University, New York, and a BA from Williams College, Williamstown, Mass.
