The North Carolina Biosciences Organization is the trade association for the North Carolina bioscience industry. The Organization includes more than 60 member companies, with products ranging from human therapeutic drugs to genetically modified crops, and from diagnostic devices to environmental bioremediation technologies. The Organization focuses primarily on shaping public policy affecting the bioscience industry through lobbying at the state and federal levels. NCBIO also sponsors a variety of programs aimed at assisting industry members and the general public in understanding the complex policy relationships between research, development and manufacturing involving bioscience products, economic growth, and human quality of life.
