Canada.com -- Starting today, airports across the country will begin accepting electronic boarding passes from WestJet Airlines Ltd. passengers that are displayed on their handheld devices, including the ubiquitous Black-Berry. The Calgary-based airline said that after a trial this summer in Calgary, Victoria and Kelowna, B.C., the 26 airports to which WestJet flies will begin to use the paperless format for checking in and boarding guests. "We are thrilled that all 26 of WestJet's Canadian airports have accepted the electronic boarding pass," said Dale Tinevez, West-Jet's vice-president of airports, in a statement yesterday. Passengers using WestJet's Web check-in will have the option of either printing their boarding pass or having an e-mail sent to their mobile device. The latter will then be displayed at security and when the plane is boarded.
