Vertebral compression fractures are common -- but often overlooked -- in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a cross-sectional study found. Among a cohort of 150 Swedish women with SLE, 29% had at least one prevalent vertebral compression fracture, but 25% were asymptomatic or unaware of the fracture, Katarina Almehed, MD, of the University of Gothenburg, and colleagues reported online in Arthritis Research & Therapy.
