Serotonin Transporter Occupancy Predicts Treatment Response to SSRIs

EGMN -- A significant relationship was observed between treatment response to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and serotonin transporter availability and occupancy in a study that used positron emission tomography in patients with major depressive disorder. Dr. Elena Akimova of the Medical University of Vienna presented the findings at the annual congress of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
