August 1, 2005 -- In this five-part series, we have looked at technological advances that have given rise to broad avenues for biotech research. In Parts 4 and 5, the subject has been stem cells. In Part 4, stem cells was discussed as a discipline, looking first at ethical and technical questions, then at the reasons why embryos are the most practical source for stem cells. In the four sections of Part 5, we gave short synopses of each company doing stem cell work, and this installment, the last, completes that discussion, with overviews of four companies.
