IL28B Mutation Linked to Treatment Response in Subset of Hepatitis C Patients

EGMN -- In patients with hepatitis C genotype 2 or 3, a polymorphism in the region of the interleukin 28B gene on chromosome 19 was associated with a sustained virologic response following treatment with peginterferon-alpha and ribavirin, Dr. Alessandra Mangia and her colleagues reported in the September issue of Gastroenterology.
