Growing Use of PCI Tied to Better Survival in Elderly AMI Patients

Use of revascularization procedures, especially percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), in elderly patients after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has rapidly expanded in recent years. Despite the concurrent rise of comorbid conditions, revascularization appears to be improving 1-year survival rates in this population, according to a study published in the August 2010 issue of the CMAJ.
