LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Gen Nine today announced the launch of their free CareCarma platform and CoSMoS Android Wear app (www.carecarma.com). CareCarma was developed under multi-year research grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute on Aging, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in collaboration with Stanford Universities’ SPRC. CareCarma is designed to connect families with each other and with the 60-million-strong U.S. volunteer community to provide support for both caregivers and care receivers. Whether it’s home care support for a grandparent living alone, a family member recovering from a hospital stay or new parents struggling to care for a newborn, CareCarma provides families, friends and volunteers the tools to reach out and touch someone from across town or from a world away.
The CareCarma/CoSMoS platform combines:
- A cloud-based platform that enables members to communicate within private social networks, called “CareCircles"; the entire CareCarma community, or with just a single person.
- Project management tools that help CareCircle team members to share, assign, accept or manage tasks, events, vital information (such as medication lists) and provide an immediate response if the care receiver pushes the help button on their wearable device or mobile phone.
- An integrated mobile and wearable device app, called CoSMoS, that ties these capabilities together through an easy to use interface that can be configured remotely through the cloud.
The initial version of CoSMoS is designed for the LG Urbane 2, 3G smart watch. A CareCircle member can remotely populate the main CoSMoS watch screen with team member portraits that also function as command keys. Simply touching one of the images triggers a phone call or sends a message, avoiding the confusing panoply of icons, menus and swiping. And one touch of the help button immediately contacts a preconfigured call list as well as emergency services.
Mark Fauci, Gen Nine’s founder and CEO, commented, “We will be adding new modules to the platform in the months ahead. These will include remote activity monitoring, location tracking and the ability to remotely schedule third-party support services. CoSMoS support for other wearable and mobile devices will also be added, including a new smart eyewear version.”
CareCarma is compatible with Windows, Apple and Linux browsers and Android or iOS devices.
