FDA Approves Single-Pill Duo for Hypertension

MedPage Today -- The FDA has approved a single-pill combination of the renin inhibitors valsartan and aliskiren (Valturna) for treatment of high blood pressure. The drug is indicated for treatment of hypertensive patients who aren’t adequately controlled on aliskiren (Tekturna) or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) monotherapy, and for initial therapy in patients likely to need multidrug treatment to reach blood pressure goals.
