WSOCTV -- According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, demand for emergency services has increased by 32 percent over the past 10 years. In 2006, roughly 119.2 million visits were made to U.S. hospital emergency rooms. That’s about 227 visits every minute, or more than 326,000 visits a day. Patients 25 to 44 accounted for most visits. Roughly 18.4 million ER clients were transported by ambulance.
