University of Virginia Chooses GE Healthcare For Multi-Year Neuro Surgical Navigational Research Agreement; Long-Term Collaboration To Result In New, Less Invasive Surgery Techniques

WAUKESHA, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2005--GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), announced today that it has signed a multi-year agreement with the University of Virginia Health System (UVa) to develop new, minimally invasive surgery techniques. Using GE Healthcare’s cutting edge surgical navigation tools, the InstaTrak(R) 3500 Plus and OEC(R) 9800 Plus, doctors at UVa will research less invasive methods of therapeutic and surgical intervention for the brain and spine. “This research agreement is the beginning of an important relationship between the University of Virginia and GE Healthcare.
