Target Joins McKesson's Specialty Health Network(TM), to Improve Services and Outcomes for Patients Taking Specialty Pharmaceuticals
McKesson Corporation, the world's leading healthcare services company and one of the largest providers of distribution and patient services for specialty pharmaceuticals, and Target Corporation, a leading merchandiser and retail pharmacy, today announced the launch of McKesson's Specialty Health Network program to be rolled-out to all of Target's U.S. pharmacies. Target joins an expanding network of chain and independent pharmacies who are participating in McKesson's Specialty Health Network in order to improve service for the growing number of patients taking specialty pharmaceuticals.
McKesson's Specialty Health Network extends the benefits of specialty pharmacy to retailers like Target, by providing enhanced services to patients taking specialty medications for chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis C and multiple sclerosis. McKesson provides reimbursement services to help simplify drug coverage and clinical support services, such as injection training, to relieve the burden on patients, physicians and pharmacists.
"McKesson is pleased to be able to harness our specialty expertise to develop a more robust value proposition for our retail pharmacy partners," said Brian Tyler, president of McKesson's specialty pharmaceutical division. "By improving patient access to specialty pharmaceuticals and simplifying the process for patients, physicians and pharmacists, McKesson's Specialty Health Network can enhance patient satisfaction and quality of care."
Target will begin rolling out the specialty pharmaceutical program this month, and these services will be available in all Target pharmacies by the end of 2004.
