Q2A Wins Two Medicare Contracts

COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Q2Administrators (Q2A) has won two contracts to perform independent reviews of Medicare claims appeals for services provided by doctors, non-physician practitioners and durable medical equipment (DME) suppliers nationwide.

To perform the contracts, Q2A will add approximately 90 jobs in Columbia, S.C., and approximately 75 jobs in Columbus, Ohio. The jobs will be clerical, clinical and professional. Applicants can find information in the coming weeks in the careers section of www.Q2A.com.

Under the new contracts, Q2A will process “reconsiderations,” or second- level appeals, requested by beneficiaries, Part B providers and DME suppliers nationwide. In Medicare, first-level appeals are conducted by the Medicare carrier or fiscal intermediary on a request after a claim has been denied. If the denial is upheld, the claim can then be appealed to a Qualified Independent Contractor (QIC).

“We’re very pleased that the government has selected Q2A for these task orders,” said Ed Greenleaf, Q2A president. “Through our processes, innovation and experience, our goal is to provide quality to the next level for Medicare.”

The contracts were awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. These contracts are Q2A’s second and third QIC contracts to handle the nation’s Medicare appeals.

Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., Q2A is part of the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina family of companies. BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
