Perot Systems Forms Clinical Solutions Center To Serve Global Healthcare Market

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Perot Systems Corporation today announced the formation of the Clinical Solutions Center, a new organization of specialists dedicated to helping healthcare providers achieve the vision of clinical transformation, and improved quality and cost outcomes.

Perot Systems has been assisting hospitals, health systems, and physicians with clinical change initiatives for more than ten years, and has now moved to centralize its clinical resources, best practices and project management methodologies into one organization. Perot Systems cites the marked increase in client requests for assistance with clinical transformation strategies, and its advanced clinical competencies as the catalysts for forming the Solution Center.

“Quality and cost outcome issues have made clinical transformation an imperative in today’s healthcare market,” said Chuck Lyles, president of Perot Systems Healthcare group. “We believe there is significant evidence that information technology, along with clinical process change can have a dramatic impact on these issues. We are now seeing a major movement that will ultimately result in having comprehensive clinical decision support systems in place. Thus establishing our Clinical Solutions Center allows us to facilitate acceleration of this movement, while producing a return on investment for our clients in the form of much improved cost and quality outcomes.”

Perot Systems has taken significant steps to ensure that the Solutions Center is well positioned to serve healthcare providers. More than 100 clinicians and 2,000 clinical information systems and clinical process specialists work in the organization. In its largest engagement to date, the Solution Center is working with BT and the National Health Service (NHS) of England on a new patient record initiative that will span a population of more than 7 million citizens; involve 175,000 NHS staff, 1,660 medical physician practices, 43 hospitals and 13 care communities.

According to Tim Olivier, Perot Systems’ chief operations officer for the Healthcare group, the Solutions Center will help hospitals and physicians realize measurable improvement in cost and quality outcomes from advanced clinical applications and process change. “We are able to maximize the value of clinical application assets through a deep understanding of the clinical process and its linkage to application-specific technology.”

The Solutions Center is also working to help providers with the cost of clinical initiatives through unique self funding models. “At the same time, we understand clinical transformation is expensive in both people and technology costs, and have therefore developed self funding approaches through our Revenue Cycle Solutions team,” Olivier continued. Perot Systems reports that early results of the combined clinical solutions and revenue cycle model have been very compelling.
