LSU Medical Center Chief Pleads With Scattered Employees

BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Urgent Message: LSU Medical Center today issued an urgent plea for all Medical Center employees to call in and be accounted for, said Don Smithburg, CEO of LSU Medical Center. The University’s Health Care Services Division wants to make sure that all of its 4,500 employees -- many of whom scattered throughout the South and the nation -- are safe, have been accounted for and are preparing for continued employment with LSU.

“It is imperative that LSU Medical Center employees contact the University’s Medical Center immediately,” said Don Smithburg. “Since Katrina struck New Orleans, we have been very relieved to know that a substantial portion of our scattered health care workers are safe. We are very worried about [those workers] who we have not yet heard from.”

No matter where employees of Charity Hospital or University Hospital are, it is vital that they contact the University’s Health Care Services Division to convey their well-being, and discuss their availability to return to work.

Employees of the Medical Center of Louisiana (Charity Hospital and University Hospital) must call 1.800.735.1185 by September 30, 2005, to check in with the LSU Health Care Services Division.
