HOUSTON, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Priority Power Management, a Texas-based independent energy management and consulting services firm, today announced partnerships with HealthShare, a subsidiary of the Texas Hospital Association (THA) and the Dallas Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) to help members of both groups leverage their collective buying power to lower and stabilize volatile energy costs.
"Energy costs for most organizations including hospitals have continued to rise since Texas became a deregulated market, forcing them to evaluate their options in an effort to manage costs," said John Bick, Managing Principal of Priority Power Management. "We act as an independent and trusted advisor to our clients, assisting them with evaluating pricing structures, risk management strategies and timing of purchases. Our proven method for pooling power purchases allows our clients to join with similar institutions to collectively purchase energy, offering the benefits of bulk purchasing while eliminating cross subsidization through the use of customized rates and individual contract flexibility."
The partnership calls for Priority Power Management to assemble a buying pool of Texas hospitals and enter into multi-contract negotiations to seek the most competitive energy rates for the individual healthcare institutions. HealthShare/THA and DFWHC represent about 430 hospitals and health systems throughout Texas through legislative advocacy, education, networking opportunities, and operational support. Members that choose to participate in the pool will also benefit from Priority Power Management's energy management and consulting services, which assist companies in monitoring and reducing energy usage and costs.
"One of our main goals is to find business partners that can help our members improve their financial performance, and setting up this buying pool for members to save money on energy usage accomplishes this goal," said Vicki Pascasio, FACHE, president and CEO of HealthShare/THA. "Energy management in today's deregulated market is as complex an undertaking as a company's 401(k) program. We wanted the experts at Priority Power Management to lead us in the search for a competitive, dependable retail provider resulting in customized contracts for all participating members."
"The more support we can provide to our members in their day-to-day operations, the more they can focus on what's important -- treating patients," said John Gavras, president and CEO of DFWHC. "Versus traditional businesses, the hospital environment maintains its energy usage 24/7, and these services from Priority Power allow many DFW hospitals the opportunity to manage their energy usage for the first time."
While the concept of power pooling is relatively new to the marketplace, Priority Power Management has worked with a large nonprofit health care delivery system in North Texas to consolidate costs and develop a plan to control costs for the future.
