In January 2006, Saint Vincent Health System will begin the implementation of Sunrise Clinical Manager(TM), Sunrise ED Manager(TM), Sunrise Pharmacy(TM), Sunrise Clinical Manager with Nursing Care Solutions(TM), Knowledge-Based Charting(TM), Knowledge-Based Administration(TM) and Sunrise Clinical Manager with Critical Care(TM). As part of the agreement with Eclipsys, Saint Vincent Health Center has engaged the Eclipsys Consulting Group to support its clinical transformation and clinical documentation implementation.

“Saint Vincent Health System is dedicated to achieving the highest level of patient care and requires clinical systems that are easy to use, offer outstanding functionality and provide seamless data integration,” said Mr. Kerry Kerlin, chief information officer at Saint Vincent Health System. “Of the nine vendors we evaluated, Eclipsys best met these needs. The open architecture of its product will allow us to rapidly achieve our goal of creating a fully integrated electronic medical record. We also envision improvements in efficiency and patient safety through the use of the Eclipsys clinical and nursing documentation products.”

“We have enjoyed a close and valuable partnership with Eclipsys since we implemented its E7000 system in 1982,” said Angela Bontempo, chief executive officer at Saint Vincent Health System. “This latest agreement extends and deepens this partnership and will give us the foundation to reach our goals of achieving even higher levels of evidence-based practice.”

The Eclipsys advanced clinical suite helps healthcare organizations save time, costs and lives by supporting best practices across the enterprise and the continuum of care on a single, integrated technology platform. As a result, the many individuals involved in a patient’s care can share information seamlessly. This includes the integrated medication management solution, which provides the physician, pharmacist, and nurse with a shared solution to ensure the safe management of a patient’s medication therapy. Information handoffs between providers, departments and shifts can be completed with efficiency, accuracy and the support of knowledge. The strength of the Sunrise clinical solutions enables Eclipsys to support a healthcare organization’s goal to be among the best places to both give and receive care.

“Eclipsys is pleased to extend its long-standing relationship with Saint Vincent Health System and provide the foundation for a fully integrated electronic medical record,” said Eugene V. Fife, Eclipsys chairman, president and CEO. “With evidence-based content integrated into the Sunrise clinical suite and delivered to the point of care, Eclipsys is helping Saint Vincent Health System achieve its cost and efficiency objectives, while continuing to save more lives.”
