CLEVELAND, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cleveland Clinic announced today that its new chief executive officer, Delos M. Cosgrove, M.D., will lead off a five-speaker “Leaders in Healthcare” seminar at the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress 2005 in Dubai, U.A.E. Dr. Cosgrove’s presentation, “The Innovation Imperative,” will focus on the importance of enterprise-wide innovation as the only viable, long-term strategy for maintaining quality in health care.
As one of the world’s most productive and respected cardiothoracic surgeons, Dr. Cosgrove has exemplified innovation. He has developed a wide range of clinical devices and instruments including the Cosgrove Mitral Valve Retractor, the Stentless Aortic Valve, the Low Velocity Aortic Cannula, and the Cosgrove-Baxter Annuloplasty System for use in valve repairs.
Dr. Cosgrove also has made pioneering and prolific contributions to the field of minimally invasive valve repair and replacement. He has performed more than 20,000 cardiac surgical procedures, filed 18 patents for medical devices and trained more than 214 cardiac surgeons from 38 countries. Dr. Cosgrove has authored nearly 400 publications and lectured worldwide.
