EXTON, Pa., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Daou Systems, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: DAOU) , a provider of IT consulting and management services to healthcare organizations, today announced an agreement with Florida Hospital Healthcare Services (FHHS) in Orlando to design and implement a member portal solution for the organization.
“We are now in a time when consumer-driven healthcare is becoming more prevalent,” said Vincent K. Roach, president and CEO of Daou Systems. “The technology we are implementing at FHHS will empower members to make informed healthcare choices, and will enable FHHS to offer a rich array of healthcare information to its core constituencies in a timely, cost-effective manner.”
Daou will develop and implement a member portal for FHHS, built on emPOWERnet(TM), a web services architecture development platform from Park City Solutions. The portal will enable FHHS to provide enrolled members and their employer groups with secure access to healthcare, financial and administrative information over the internet, thereby extending and expanding FHHS’ customer service capabilities. FHHS is a Third Party Administrator (TPA) serving the benefits administration and other healthcare-related services needs of approximately 42,000 members located in the tri-county area including Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties in Central Florida. Once implemented, FHHS members will be able to access the portal for information such as member eligibility, claims status, authorizations, benefit information, customized provider directories and care management information. They also will be able to register for specific disease and wellness care management programs, and access health related news and tips, as well as submit primary care physician selections, appeal claim decisions, change their address, update other insurance coverage information and a number of other administrative functions. In addition to having the option to view the same information as members, employer groups will be able to access monthly reports and perform enrollment functions.
The portal solution will establish a single, reliable and secure framework and will enable a continued expansion of features and broadening of FHHS customer service capabilities. Daou’s knowledge of the health insurance business, web services solution approach, and system integration expertise will help FHHS take advantage of web services technology without replacing existing systems. This solution will bring together the disparate silos of information contained in today’s benefit administration systems, medical management systems, provider management systems, and disease management protocols, couple it with administrative content and present a unified customer service experience to FHHS’ members and employers.
“FHHS conducted an extensive search and we are confident in our decision to select Daou for this project,” said Barbara Linder, executive director of FHHS. “Daou’s solid expertise in advanced technologies, coupled with a thorough knowledge of health insurance, systems integration, application workflow and network infrastructure, gives me assurance that their integration of our member portal will be successful.”
