BlueScript for Medicare Part D plans will be available to Medicare beneficiaries whether they are enrolled in Medicare supplemental or Medicare Advantage managed care plans, or choose to remain with standard Medicare for their medical coverage. The plans will replace the transitional discount prescription drug card program introduced by Medicare in 2004.
“The introduction of BlueScript for Medicare Part D will strengthen Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida’s leadership in the Medicare program by adding to our already extensive offerings for Medicare beneficiaries,” said Tricia Engel, director of product and services. “To reiterate what CMS Administrator Dr. Mark McClellan said earlier today, the new Part D plans will provide Florida Medicare beneficiaries with more and better options than they have ever had before.”
Part D will provide Medicare beneficiaries with much needed prescription drug coverage for the first time in Medicare’s 40-year history. BCBSF is participating in this new program to provide Floridians with enhanced access to medications and will assist beneficiaries in navigating Medicare Part D and other aspects of Medicare reform through the transition period and beyond.
