Oscar L. Amparan Appointed President Of Arlington Memorial Hospital

ARLINGTON, Texas, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Health Resources (THR), parent organization of Arlington Memorial Hospital (AMH), today announced the appointment of Oscar L. Amparan as president of Arlington Memorial. Amparan will also carry the title of executive vice president of Texas Health Resources.

In announcing the appointment, Doug Hawthorne, president and CEO of THR, said, "I'm pleased that Oscar has accepted this important position and look forward to his continued leadership. Oscar's wealth of health care management experience and his dedication to the mission of Texas Health Resources will be a great asset to Arlington Memorial, one of our flagship hospitals."

"We look forward to working with Oscar in his new position," said Judge Tom Vandergriff, chairman of AMH's board of directors. "He will serve AMH well as an advocate and visionary."

Amparan will assume full responsibility as president of AMH by June 30.

"THR has afforded me much opportunity to use my talents for the good of those we serve," Amparan said. "Arlington Memorial Hospital is a premier THR hospital with a spirited group of employees who are dedicated to those they serve. This is a tremendous opportunity for me to make a difference, and I look forward to leading the AMH team."

AMH's central Arlington location positions it as the nexus for health care services to the communities of Arlington, Grand Prairie and Mansfield. These three communities have experienced double-digit population growth during the past few years, and AMH is challenged with supporting the needs of this fast- growing and diverse population.

Texas Health Resources plans to invest in the largest expansion in the history of AMH during the next few years to improve the health of the people of Arlington and the surrounding communities.

The AMH board of trustees unanimously endorsed Amparan's appointment after THR concluded the search that began in January following the retirement of Wayne Clark.

Amparan, an 11-year veteran of THR, is currently senior vice president for regional operations at THR. He joined Harris Methodist Premier in 1994 with responsibility for the hospital and ancillary provider network of Harris Methodist Health System. His career includes numerous health care positions, including serving as chief executive officer of Sierra Medical Center in El Paso.

Amparan earned his master's degree in hospital and health care administration at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at El Paso.
