AmorChem l.p. Release: André-Dupont Prize Awarded To Mike Sapieha!

Montreal, October 6, 2015. Congratulations to Mike Sapieha, recipient of the 2015 André-Dupont prize for young researchers. AmorChem has been proudly collaborating with this talented researcher from the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Centre (CIUSSS de l’Est de l’Île de Montréal) since 2014.

The André-Dupont prize is awarded annually to honor the accomplishments of a young researcher with less than ten years of independent research experience.

Mike (Przemyslaw) Sapieha is the director of the Neurovascular Ocular Disease Research Unit at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Centre and he holds a Canadian Research Chair in retinal cellular biology. He is also professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and of BioChemistry of the University of Montreal, as well as Associate professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University.

Dr. Sapieha’s work on vascular retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration is partially financed by AmorChem, a venture capital group. These diseases represent the leading cause of blindness in developed countries. He has published to date nearly 60 papers in renowned journals such as Cell Metabolism, Nature Medicine, Science Translational Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Blood and Circulation.
