STUART, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, this year nearly 150,000 women will face a mastectomy procedure due to breast cancer treatment. Patients undergoing a major operation, such as mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, often are required to leave the hospital with pinned drains and tubes that hang uncomfortably from incision sites and may restrict mobility. One woman, with a career in textiles, wanted to improve the post surgical experience for women battling breast cancer like her and designed a system called the Marsupial® Pouch.
